Breaking the Chrysalis

As the spirit of Butterfly floods the world with its presence, humanity is called to transform.

The Earth’s frequency is certainly rising, together with our individual consciousness and planetary experience. Butterfly can help us navigate this time by reminding us of the transformational cycle that constantly moves through each one of us.

The spirit of Butterfly can teach us about transformation and remind us of the many stages within its cycle. She is the guide that we encounter when life doesn’t seem to be flowing in the old ways. We know, deep within, that there is change sparkling inside, but we might still resist it or not fully comprehend it.

Butterfly moves through several experiences in her life on Earth. She enters creation as an egg, then becomes a caterpillar. After a while, she transforms once more, entering the chrysalis where she undertakes a great and magnificent alchemical process. She emerges from the chrysalis as a butterfly and flies up into the sky.

When we see butterflies flying around, we can certainly perceive the joy of their new stage of experience. The ephemeral light and colours they emanate are incredibly contagious and can lighten even the densest of energies. When we meet a butterfly, we all smile in delight. Everything seems to disappear as we become absorbed by her patterns and colours. She emanates a sense of joy and freedom. She is free to be beautiful and light. She can fly and enjoy her new gifts.

Butterflies remind us that sometimes, to appreciate our soul’s wings, we first need to walk the Earth as a caterpillar. The experience can help us to understand this plane of existence better and be at service when the time arrives.

Within our divine human life, we move through several cycles of evolution and renewal. We explore reality in a “spiralling way”, touching certain aspects of experience for our entire lives. And so we become caterpillars many times, enter the chrysalis many times, and also transform into butterflies of multiple colours more than once. The length and rhythm of our transformational cycle are very unique and individual. Some of us move very fast along the spiral, diligently shifting layer after layer. We enter the so called “death and rebirth” cycle many times. Others might move across the spiral in a slow and gentle way. They require time to integrate the shift in consciousness, and normal linger well within the matrix life. Ultimately, everything happens according to our soul’s plan and purpose, so all the experiences are perfect just as they are. However, it is interesting to notice them. The more we know the multiple stages of our lives, the more we are able to assist ourselves within the process and flow with grace.

Butterfly invites us to observe exactly that and to live in alignment with our individual cycle. For example, if we are just coming out of the chrysalis, we might require some care and gentleness while we are strengthening our butterfly wings. If we are still in the chrysalis, we are moving through the core of the transformational process. We require nourishment and quietness while we gain the strength needed to break through the cocoon and emerge.

When we do not recognise the stage of our inner cycle, we might experience some conflict inside. In truth, we are fighting the vibration of our life, perhaps forcing the process and acting out of integrity within our own field. This can create confusion, resistance and a sense of overall struggle. Learning to flow through the different stages of life is one of the greatest teachings of butterflies.

Breaking the Chrysalis

We all know that when the caterpillar enters the chrysalis, a big transformation happens, but often we might underestimate the process. Within this process itself, there are several stages.

  1. The caterpillar finds a safe space and creates the chrysalis.

  2. He enters the chrysalis and rests upside down.

  3. Hormones trigger the old skin to loosen.

  4. Enzymes break down muscles, organs and tissue into liquid.

  5. Encoded cells, contained in this liquid, reconstruct the body.

  6. The chrysalis becomes clear, revealing the new wings.

  7. The chrysalis splits, and the butterfly crawls out.

  8. She prepares her wings before taking flight.

I believe it is important to remember the different stages of this specific aspect of the cycle. Often, we might skip certain aspects within our own transformational experience and miss the gifts.

Every stage carries medicine and significant teachings. If you find yourself navigating the chrysalis of transformation, perhaps this map can help you find further understanding and acceptance of the overall experience.

I invite you to observe, with care and a non-judgmental approach, where you find yourself at this time in life. Notice whether you are relating to the process or fighting the way, perhaps out of impatience and stress. Butterfly invites us to trust and relax into the ultimate energy of life and creation unfolding through every cell of our being at all times.
